Proxima-1 is inspired from the star Proxima Centauri, a red dwarf from the Centaurus constellation and is a part of the Alpha Centauri star system, home to three known stars and the closest stellar system to our sun.

Proxima Centauri is approximately 12% the mass, 14% the diameter and 33 times the density of our sun.
