Marine Binoculars need to do a couple of things. Firstly Waterproof for obvious reasons ! Secondly they need to generally be of 7 or 8 times magnification otherwise in the constantly moving marine environment (unless image stabilised) you will have difficulty getting a clear image on a moving target. Thirdly a larger aperture of 50mm is advantageous in the low light conditions of dawn or dusk. Thus the 7×50 Waterproof marine binocular is the industry standard.
